Windows update takes a very loooong time

    When I run Windows Update from IE 7 on my desktop with WIN XP Home SP2, it takes about 45 seconds from the time I push the Custom Button to when the updates are displayed. When I run the Update on my laptop with IE 7 and WIN XP Pro, SP2, it takes about 7 minutes after I push the Custom Button. Why?

    Another question:
    I have MS Office 2003 loaded on both computers mentioned above, yet I get updates for the Office programs on my laptop but not my desktop. Isn't that weird?
