"Updates are being installed (1 of 1) Do not turn off or unplug your computer ; it will turn off automatically "

Windows update has been installing an update on my laptop for more than an hour with no signs of stopping. I can't access anything. Right before restarting, I had a 1073741819 error message. What should I do?

So far, my only idea is to let it run all night and take it in for repair tomorrow.

Hi lee2000. Having a Windows update taking more than an hour to install is not normal unless its a Service Pack. Since the update has been attempting to install itself for over an hour go ahead and power off the machine. Wait about 30 seconds then turn it back on. Does the computer boot up correctly or do you get an error message?
