Anyone else having issues downloading updates/patches?

I can contact the site and get a list of updates needed, press install, i get the pop-up license agreement, accept that.

Then the download progress bar comes up, and nothing happens, i left it for 25 minutes. Still nothing, i tried downloading one update at a time, and got failed each time.

XP has been installed for 1hour 15minutes on a brand new Western Digital 120Gb Caviar SE

    Edit: Im cable

This may be off base, but I seem to remember a notice to disable any virus programs and/or spy blocking software before downloading.

    Just a thought
They recently started routing dounloads through akamai.net
So If you have a hosts file with any windows update entries removing the entries may help

    Or puting an #
    # before all microsoft sites

AndrewJRussell--Unfortunately could be many things. One of the simplest fixes (specific to download problems from any site) is to clean out your Cache (Temporary Internet Files), but if you have only had the PC for two hours, that may not be the problem.
Here is an article that covers several possible solutions (many are valid even if you are not getting the error message mentioned).
    http://www.updatexp.com/0x800A138F.html
And MS offers a Windows Update Troubleshooting site
    http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/
    Good luck!
