I noticed today a Windows XP download for Autorun. I never had a problem with this feature, always had it turned off. What is this for? Anyone know?

Please read Microsoft Security Advisory (967940) - Update for Windows Autorun

This update will let you disable Autorun via the Windows Registry.

You may also want to consider using TweakUI to disable that feature on any/all drives. For many users, it's safer than manually editing the Registry or using some MS advisory to tweak the Registry.

You have to wonder what prompted MS to offer this update at this time?
Is there something they are not telling us? I suspect so.

It does make me go hmmmm...but I have had autorun disabled since day-one, so not to worry. I considered it a bother for my type of usage.

Perhaps they hired a new man and he didn't read up on what had already been covered years earlier.
