I have noticed HEAPS of text files residing in the WINDOWS folder named KB followed by 9 numerics. I believe that they are the left overs from automatic windows updates and contain a log of what happened.
    Can they be safely deleted?
Also could someone plerase explain the folders (also in the Windows folder) named $NTUninstall????? which are taking up 144mb of disk space.
    Thanks

    John

You can safely delete the logs - they are, as you rightly say, the installation logs for Updates.
These are the uninstall folders for all Windows Updates listed in Add/Remove Programs - i.e. those updates which can be uninstalled. Not all can.

If you are confident that you do not want to uninstall these updates in the future delete them - if you are unsure burn them to CD/DVD and then delete them.
