After allowing my desktop to do a windows update, I can't get any connection to the internet now. I have tried disabling the firewall, restarting it several times, won't connect no matter what browser I use. I'm guessing it's not the cable or the router, because I'm posting this with my laptop through the same router. Thats the only thing I did was the update, now.......darkness. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm using ESET Security both as a firewall and anti-virus.

A friend suggested I go to system restore and restore to a point before the problems appeared. This seems to have worked, as I'm answering this through my desktop again. He also suggested I install the Microsoft updates one at a time, to see which one caused the problem. Then I can ferret it out, and tell Microsoft about the problem. (Like they'll listen. *-*)

Thanks for the answer. Maybe this will help someone else?

    :)

I asked because Zone Alarm is famous for being rendered inoperable after Windows updates (has happened multiple times over the years). As far as I know this doesn't normally happen with ESET.
