Can I download the Critical Windows Updates using the Netscape Browser or does that REQUIRE Internet Explorer? IF the updates can be done through Netscape how? By clicking on Update the Netscape will display a RED "Can not display ..." screen. ????

I'm not absolutely positive but I think you need IE to get windows update. I use Netscape but I have IE5.5 (by default) and I use it to get the updates because I tried Netscape and it would not work. Maybe someone else has had experience with this.

Extra information, if you are interested.

When Winidows98 was first released, one of its feature is Windows Update, and at that time it was the war between browsers, and MS-DOJ AntiTrust case.

There were some articles around and say that you can use Netscape for Windows Update, but requires quite a number of hacks into the registry.

I personally don't think those hacks will still be working in later Windows. Just use IE for it.
