Windows Vista Windows Update Fails Everytime

Hi,

I have been trying to update my windows from past few months but every time i get a Failed Update infact windows just cant install the updates after downloading it.

I keep getting the error codes 80070490 & 42B

I even downloaded the windows update agent but it returned a error Windows Update Agent Installer encountered an unrecoverable error.

I also downloaded the checksur Windows6.0 KB947821 v12-x86 and ran this file and it seemed pretty fine but still i dont know as to why the upgrade from SP1 to SP2 is unsuccessful as i keep getting the error that some components are missing and the code is 80070490.

Frankly speaking i have tried every possible way to get the updates in place but in vain.

I tried to view the CBS log file by elevating the rights to administrator but it still says Access Denied.
Also, due o the update not being installed i a unable to run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor as it becomes unresponsive on start up.

Most of the commands were successful but the list below shows the errors that i got.

I had to actually run a clean boot on my laptop and now its working as brnad new. My system is also able to download and install latest updates without any problems.
