I am currently upgrading a dual processor server we had running with Windows Svr 2003 x32 with Windows Svr 2003 R2 x64.

I have an existing domain "ugly1" that I am trying to get this newly improved server "ugly2" to be added into the existing domain forest. Active Directory on "ugly1" keeps refusing to add "ugly2" into the forest.

Running "adprep" gets me no where. It's not speaking to the "ugly1" domain to do the addition.

    Any suggestions or comments ?

A typical problem with adding a new domain controller to an existing domain is the lack of a common DNS between the existing domain and the new server. If the new DC is not able to locate the kerberos services in the domain, then it will not be able to successfully install directory services. Kerberos services are listed in DNS.
check to make sure your DNS server is configured properly, and that your new DC is pointing to the same DNS server as your old one.
