    Hi All,

Today i scanned my windows server 2003 x86 enterprise system using kaspersky anti-virus and once it rebooted it crashed with a blue screen before reaching ctrl+alt+del screen.

I tried to repair the system using a cd (windows server 2003 x64 bit). During repair it crashed again with another blue screen error.

So now whenever the server starts up it goes to the setup screen asking for a cd.

Is it possible for me to revert the system back to the old state if i use the correct cd.

or is there any way i can undo the changes made by using the wrong cd ?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Arun

I don't think Windows will make any repairs with a 'wrong' CD.

You may start with posting the exact error message displayed.

If that is exactly what you're seeing, that's your problem... That's an XP setup screen. Not remotely Server 2K3... You've booted from the wrong CD, and I doubt that your server (if a real server box) will 1: allow a desktop OS to be installed on it, and B: that XP disk will not be able to see your hard drives at all! No SCSI/RAID drivers for a server backplane will be included!

    What's the hardware you have?

Additionally... I think the damage MIGHT have been done with the Kaspersky disk. If it's not specifically stated as server compatible, you dinged a file somewhere. But Arie's right... I've tried on purpose to repair systems with "wrong" media, and the effort's refused. I hope you had a backup, and I hope you're free this weekend!
