I have a 4tb external data drive. It works fine in a variety of desktops and laptops. Today I installed 64-bit Win 7 on an old desktop. The external drive is seen, but only as a device. I cannot get explorer to register it as a drive so it cannot be accessed. Why is this happening? Is there a solution?

Thanks for the reply. No, I did not. I just need Win 7 for one brief thing so am running it with Windows defaults. The 32-bit version works perfectly on this computer, no driver issues at all, so I thought the 64-bit version might do the same, but I am seeing problems with other things like the display. Typical.

I see what you are getting at. I didn't think USB drivers would be such an issue in this case but clearly that is the problem. Thanks for pointing that out.
