For some time now, I noticed when I turned on my computer, after the normal Motherboard Logo and then the American Megatrends logo, at the bottom of that screen it says No Keyboard Detected. I have lived with this message for a couple of years now and it really didn't affect anything until now. For some reason Window did not start correctly and it restarted with the Repair Windows option because I had no other choices because of No Keyboard or Mouse. The Windows Repair started but then the screen asked me if I want to Restore to the last working version or cancel. Again, I couldn't make any choice so the computer is stuck in this repair cycle. I have no idea what I can do at this point and any advise would be greatly appreciated. OS: Windows 7

Hi joe645. If you plug the keyboard into a different USB port does the keyboard work with no issues? Have you tried using a different keyboard?

Yes, I have tried different ports with no help. I don't feel the keyboard is at fault it didn't function before until windows started. Biggest obstacle is that I can't get into the bios so as to change the boot record to use disk to start windows. I believe windows is okay but as I can't get past the repair function.

Please don' t leave me now. I found an extension cable for my keyboard not connected, repaired so I could navigate. PROBLEM: Missing Bootmgr. Inserted Windows 7 Repair Disk and it went though load only to end up with a blueish screen which resembles a fast moving film with a white line at the bottom and in the middle. This is where I am at now.

Ok so the keyboard works properly now? Can you boot the computer into Safe Mode?

Can you show me a picture of exactly what you are seeing?

    BOOTMGR missing
press ctr alt del to restart

I cannot get into safe mode at this point. I used repair disk but got the results as I indicated in previous post
Also, quite odd but in the startup repair mode, where it should list operating systems to restore, etc. Nothing is listed. Should say Windows 7.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Enter the advanced recovery options.
    2. Choose the Command Prompt option in the System Recovery Options window
    3. When the Command Prompt window opens type the following commands, exactly as written below, in the order in which they are presented, and press enter after entering each command:

    • Bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
    • ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
    • Bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd
    • BootRec.exe /fixmbr
    • BootRec.exe /fixboot
    • sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows
    • chkdsk c: /r
    • exit
    4. If you receive any warnings or notifications asking you are you sure press Y to confirm.
    5. After exiting the Command Prompt window, reboot the computer and see if you can boot into Windows 7 successfully.

I assume you also tried running System Restore?
