I recently updated an older machine with all of the current XP updates. since that time I get the following message every time I turn the machine on:

    Windows Product Activation
This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate?

I have tried to use the internet option, the phone option, and the live rep. option. Each time I go through the process I am told that I have been "activated ". The problem is that when I shut the computer down and restart it, I get the same message again.
I finally connected with microsoft customer support today but was cisconnected after being on hold for 31:45sec.
I am hopeful that someone will read this and take pity on a very frustrated reader and user!!
    Thanks

Once you are activated, run the following command from the command prompt (Start > Run type CMD press OK): regsvr32 regwizc.dll

Also check and see if one of these file exists on your computer:

    \Windows\reset5.dt1
    \Windows\system32\reset5.dll
