    Hi,
Something happened to my Windows Paint program.
Before, when I used to press the Print Screen key to copy an error message on the desktop and then paste in paint, it would fit on one 8-1/2 x 11 page when I printed it.
Now when I do this, it prints whatever I paste in Paint on two pages with 1/2 of view on one page and the other 1/2 of view on the other.
It used to print on one page.
Does anyone know how to correct this problem?
    Thanks

The only things I can think of that would cause this would be if you've set your video resoultion higher (setting it lower will cause the picture to print smaller) than it was before the problem occurred or perhaps there's a setting in your printer setup to fit to page (or something like that). Any chance of of either of these being the problem?

    Hi Zander,
    Thanks for the reply.
No, my resolution is set the same as before.
I believe the problem is within the paint program because when I select File, Print Preview, it shows the image as being on two pages.

Sorry that didn't help, however, for what it's worth, if you set the resolution low enough so the pic will print on one page it will also show up in the print preview as being one page. Changing it back will cause the pic to show two pages in the print preview again. No, I'm not saying you should set your resolution lower and live with it (an unacceptable answer for me too), just pointing out that the print preview showing two pages may not mean anything. When you print the pic does it cover the entire first page and the second just contain what's left or does it print exactly half on one page and half on the other? If the latter, are there large borders around each print or do they cover the entire page. Just trying to get a handle on what the exact end result is.

    Hi Zander,
Yes, 1/2 is on one page and the other 1/2 is on second page.
Yes, there is large borders around each.
    Thanks

Right off hand I'm not really sure what to say. Have you checked to make sure the border setting in paint hasn't changed (file\page setup)? Also, you might want to check in the printer applet (the one that opens when you click on print) and see if there's a border setting or some other setting that could cause this. While it's open also check to see what size paper it set to use. Just thinking perhaps it's set for evelope size or some such thing. Are there any problems printing in any other programs? What kind of printer is it? You may be right about it being a problem with paint but I'm just trying to cover the basics first. In the mean time I'll think about it a bit more, do some searching around and mess with mine a bit here to see if I can somehow recreate the problem. Perhaps someone else will come up with an idea. Can anybody else think of anything here?

One more question. It may or may not matter but what OS are you using?

    Hi Zander,
Weare using Windows XP Home, but Paint was working OK until about a week ago.

We changed Page Setup in Paint as follows:
In centering, both horizontal & vertical were checked; we unchecked both of these.
In scaling, Fit To was 3 by 2 pages; we changed this to 1 by 1.

Now when we paste we get the whole image on the top half of page, which is better than before; but the new settings do not stay. We have to reset them everytime we start Paint again.

Guess I'm kinda lost here as I'm still using win98 and it sounds as though the page setup in xp's paint is different from win98's. My daughter has xp and I'll probably be seeing her later today. While I'm there, I'll take a look at her's and see what it looks like. Kind of curious to see what it defaults to. By, the way, I just noticed in your sig in your last post that you are running xp. Sorry for not being a bit more attentive. :)

To get the settings to stay, you might set it the way you want, click on "FILE ", and then while holding the CRTL key, scroll down and click on EXIT or CLOSE.

However, I believe the problem may very well be with your image size settings on PAINT.

    Go to PAINT
    OPEN It
it should give you a blank white screen.

    Check on IMAGE
scroll to anc click on ATTRIBUTES

What is the SIZE of the default white screen?
If it 400 wide, 300 high in PIXELS, then that should be correct.

If it is not, then adjust it to that and see if it corrects the problem.

    Hi David,
We tried your suggestions but we can't get the settings to stay.
We have to change settings each time we use Paint as I mentioned above.
    Thanks

jslow and zander--It may be File|Page Setup in Internet Explorer rather than Paint which is the problem. Make sure that Margins are set at the smallest number possible (usually .25 inches).
