Nt4 running SP6a . Recently had ARserver 2000 Advanced server removed from system using Add/Remove Programs

After requested re-boot unable to use system properly.
Some system services not starting and when attempting to start via GUI (control panel , Service Icon) the following error is returned "Access to the specified devide, path, or file is denied"
The system also had SQL 2000 installed and this fails to start. The desktop shortcuts have lost their properties and all file associations are lost on the system.
Why and how is my question and is this a know ro simple fix.

May well be that ARCServe was suing a specific user to gain access to the system and this has been removed with the installation

If the other services were depending on this then you may have issues like that you are experiencing

Check on the Service to see what user it is loggin in as - anything other than system means it will show up in User Manager for Domains - may be a password issue.

Dont want to break things further so create a new user that is a copy of the current one thats used by the services, change the service logon to use this user and the newly created password

Another idea to check on this is to look in the Event logs (system and application) and see what can be gleaned from there

Sorry if this is a little vague but I dont have an NT box here anymore

Post back results and / or questions to my maybe not so clear instructions !
