Windows messenger will not shut down.

    when I attempt to close the program it says that it is being used by another program. How can I fix it?

    Do a fresh reboot. If you want to stop it all together, go to C:\Program Files\Messenger and rename the the messenger folder to MessengerX or anything you'd like.

    You'll get that message if you have Outlook Express open at the time you try to close messenger. Try Closing OE first and then see what happens. If this is the problem, you should be able to get rid of it by clicking tools in OE, then options and on the general tab uncheck the line that says automatically log onto windows messenger.
