Now that I have enough power to run it I'd like to try windows media player v9 as my default.

    Couple questions?

Is there a way to set it up to do the following?

    1) double click on mp3 adds to que?

    2) add a folder or 2 to play random MP3 files automaticly?

    Thanks
    Rockit

    Start up Windows Media Player.

From the Tools menu, select Plug-Ins, and then Options. You will be presented with the Options dialog box. Click on the File Types tab. You will see a list of file types. Check off the ones that you want WMP to open.

As for question number two. You need to click on the Media Library button on the left side. You can manage your play lists there. There is also a button on the bottom called Turn Shuffle On. Click it.

What is the advantage of using Media Player 10 over version 9?

    Thanks

    I don't know exactly.

Other than what they say on their web site. I know that they are hyping their new PlayForSure standard. It is an initiative to help you play media from many different sources.

I do know that I cannot get it to install on Windows 2000. Version 9 is supported for now.

I installed MP10 and was unable to hear any sound with DVD's. Many of my music files, which worked fine with MP9, locked up the system, requiring a hard shutdown. I downloaded codecs, acquired licenses, checked and rechecked every setting I could find trying to overcome these problems, all to no avail. Didn't like the new interface as well anyway, so decided to try rolling back to MP9. There is no uninstaller, and it's not listed in add/remove, so I typed the uninstall command (from the uninstall key in the registry) in the run dialog box, the following prompts said I had successfully rolled back and all shortcuts to MP were removed. eg; quicklaunch, start menu. No sign of MP9 anywhere. Tried re-installing from a setup file and was told a newer version was installed, and setup could not continue. Opened the Media Player folder in Program Files and deleted everything there, only to watch it quickly repopulate. Convinced that it is impossible to remove MP10 once installed, and in need of a clean install anyway, I formatted and installed anew. Ahhh.....MP9 is back and playing all the same old music files again. And powerDVD plays movies just fine too.:)
