windows media player problem no sound

this is the error messaged i get when i click on the option tab in media

my picture works fine and my sound works fine if not playing media player
i have uninstalled and installed back media but problem without sound
remains.

 

Hi patek, welcome to the BBS.

One question and one or two suggestions for you.

Which version of Media Player are you trying to run? (Look under the Help menu in MP). Version 7 works well for me, but I am not certain about it's internet security.

If you can change settings in the Tools > Options box, uncheck "start player in MediaGuide" (click Apply).

If you have any other media players eg. Nero, Creative, Real etc., they may be conflicting with Media Player as the "default" player. Under the Options menu look for settings as "default" player.

PS There is a sound diagnostics in DXDIAG. Go to Start -> Run and type in:
dxdiag [Enter]
