We recently received a Media player file of our kids and after viewing it we made a mistake and deleted it. The kids don't have it any more. I looked in the media player for the most recently viewed files and it's not there. Is there a place where Media files are archived so I can retrieve it?

    Thanks, Jack

Sad news is that if you deleted it it has gone :(

However if this was very recently there is a chance that it has not been overwritten on the drive. When a file is deleted only the reference to the file in file system - FAT 32, NTFS is removed, but the space occupied by the file is flagged as usable by Windows.

Try PC Inspector File Recovery - freeware. Their Smart Recovery works well on CF cards, but I have not used File Recovery.

    Good Luck!

Generally when in WMP and you delete, you are deleting a path to the file (removing it from the media library), not the file itself. Load WMP, click on "File" tab, move your cursur down to "Add to Media Library ". Another menu choice should pop up. Locate and click on "by Searching Computer ". This may bring in more media files than you prefer, but hopefully it will find the clip your looking for. The ones you do NOT want in your media library you can delete out.... again you are just deleting the path which links it to the media library.
