    Windows Media Player
I am running XP Pro with IE8 and have never had a problem with Windows Media Player 11. I have attempted to open commissioner meeting videos (which I've not had a previous problem). Now all of a sudden when I attempt to open a meeting I get this message "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For additional assistance, click Web Help. " I've gone through the steps offered and nothing seems to help. Has anyone encountered this type problem before, and if so was there a remedy found?

Thanks ahead for any assistance that may be offered.

    Reid

Hi Reid. For the commissioner meeting videos what file type are they?

I would try installing the K-Lite Codec Pack and see if that makes any difference and allows Windows Media Player to play the videos.

I have the K-Lite loaded and it makes no difference. This is the URL of the videos that will no longer play <mms://74.202.148.85/meetings/2011/04-04-11/04-04-11A.wmv>, never had this problem before, there is also an error code C00D11B1. The name is Windows Media Audio/Video file.

Thanks for your attempt at helping me figure this out.

I just tried playing the file from the website and I couldn't get it to play either.

This is the web help link from Windows Media Player, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/wi...&id=C00D11BB&contextid=71&originalid=C00D2EE0

The error message is that the specified protocol is not supported. You have probably tried the resolution in the link above already and it didn't help.

I think that the website is using a protocol that is unsupported by Windows Media Player. If thats the case then I don't know what else to tell you since I've never encountered a problem like this before.

It worked fine for me. I have WMP 11, without the K-lite codecs.

I would love to know why it played for you, but not for Evan? This is very odd!!!
