Just bought a new computer, a Gateway with Windows XP Media. I went to a website (with Firefox 2.0) that needed Windows Media and the site didn't recognize it on my computer. Fine. So I downloaded Windows Media 11, thinking that'd help. It hasn't. So I went back to 10, just to see. Still nothing. It works fine in IE, just not in Firefox.

I've done the "about:plugins" deal, and I don't see anything listed with regard to Windows Media.

    Any help?

How about a link to the site?

The MediaPlayer Connectivity extention will take care of your problems, even in the wacky cnn.com site.
I don't know if you need the WMP player npdsplay.dll file in the plugins folder.
I have it, and the extention opens everything in my WMP11, and it looks gorgeous.

Awesome. So far, so good with it. *crosses fingers that it continues to work*

    Thanks.

As long as it is compatible with your program, it works. I have been in close contact with the author, and, fixes have come quickly, if needed. I use the extention whenever I can, especially for streaming audio, because it does not require that the browser be left open.

Strange ... I get audio, but no video, using WMP 11 with FF 2.0 and the Connectivity extension. Any thoughts?

No problem with either of the two links given above. CNN requires that popups be permitted, but eventually WP11, and will play video full screen (as full as WP11 allows). I did nothing special in the MediaPlayerConnectivity extention configuration, other then placing a check mark next to Windows Media

I had the CNN site working properly after I first installed the Connectivity extension , but now I'm getting a message that my popup blocker is blocking access to the CNN video player.

I've turned off popup blocking in FF's options, but still get the message. What bugs me is that it was working properly last week, even with popup blocking enabled. Other than turning off the blocker, I haven't changed a thing. Aarrgghh!

The site also works perfectly with Windows Media Player 9, without the extension, and ActiveX for Media Player installed...
