After updating my pc to XP and getting media player 10 I find that all my music files, that were copied from c/d for convenience, are now copy write protected and I am unable to convert them to a different format.
Currenty they are stored in a folder as WMA files. I would like to convert them to MP3 or even ATRAC.
Any ideas on how I might do this, or do I have to delete them all and reload the lot in the format I want?

Files copied from CD are routinely write protected. and it's easy to change that in properties in each file - just click the write protetect item to clear it. However that's a bother. I'd use a cmd window and go to the folder containing the files and then type the command: attrib -r *.* or include the extention to be more specific.
