I uninstalled IE6 today and when prompted to restart I accepted.

I have been able to get my computer to start since. It gets all the way to the desktop, just before it loads all the desktop programs etc. and then does nothing else. I have tried to start in safe mode and that hasn't worked either.

    I found the following article:

    http://www.winbookcorp.com/_technote/WBTA10160108.htm

I followed all the instruction and at the following part "probably the most important part" the window for system restore opens but just has a white screen and nothing else happens

Click Launch System Restore to begin restoring your computer

  Does anyone have any ideas or solutions?

I phoned the shop I bought the computer from and they suggested that I just install ME straight over the corrupt version. That way I will keep all my files etc. Is that true?

    Many thanks for any help
