Hi all, I just wanted to let everybody know of this problem. II have Windows ME on my system, so I upgraded to IE6 and OE6 along with the brand new Media Player 9. For some reason,(still unknown) my internet connection started acting up, niether the tech at Charter Communications or I could find the problem. So he suggested it was a software problem, and maybe I should uninstall IE6 and reinstall. I did, and that's when the real nightmare started. The uninstall left me with missing .DLL files, Windows wouldn't boot. I got it started with startup disk only to find powrprof.dll and winspool.dll were still missingand still had connection problems. I replaced the files, got the tech back on the phone.....this time he suggested I reinstall Windows ME.
So I'm 3/4 finished with the installation when I get this error: "SUWIN caused a general protection fault in modual VERX.DLL . When I closed it I was left with a dos prompt, it wouldn't finish. I finally, after lots of searching, found a newsgroup with the anwser. Here's the post and the reply:

    hi...
well when ever i re-install windows ME... it get's to 60%
done there's this error that pops up with Suwin.... and i
can't re-install windows.... Now my computer always has
this error with powrprov.dll, and winspool.drv...... what
can i do to fix this?

Someone else had this problem (as did I). See if this
    looks like your problem.

Darn, wish I'd seen this before I went through 4 weeks of
h*ll trying to get the PC to work correctly. I
    experienced the exact same problem(s).

I hope this helps someone out. I can see where it could be a common problem, but Microsoft doesn't have any info on it on the help pages. They got lots of other Suwin issues though.
