I have an HP Pavilion laptop (DV6605us) that lost the video (black screen only even after numerous attempts at every F key available). I purchased an enclosure for the hard drive so I could read it on my desktop, which is also an HP with Windows XP. Since I don't have Vista on my desktop, I cannot restore the emails in windows mail. When I go to the email file (K:users/(user name)/document/email/email/local folders) I can see the emails, but it only shows through November 17, 2010. Does anyone know why it would do this? Did Windows Mail change their settings after this date? More importantly, how do I get to the newer messages?

Also, I am unable to import these messages (type just says email message) into Outlook Express on my XP.

PLEASE help. I have a lot of important emails that I really need access to.

    Thanks in advance.

If not changed from the standard location, Windows Mail is located in \Users\{user name}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail

And no, you can't import Windows Mail into Outlook Express. You can only copy the individual messages (.eml) and copy them to the desired Outlook Express folder.
