Shopping for a new PC with 2GB of ram with all the bells and whistles. Going for speed. Is Windows Mail comparable or hopefully better than Outlook Express? Please advise. Thanks for your time.

PS. A good book,Vista for dummies, availble? Vista is going to be a big change for me. Lot of seat time to change out a PC.

While Vista is somewhat different than XP, it's really no more difficult moving from XP to Vista than it was moving from Win98/ME to XP.

Vista does the same things as XP only there are some things with different names.

For example, Add or Remove Programs is now called Programs and Features but once you open it, it's about the same as XP's Add or Remove Programs. The Start Menu works a little differently than XP's but it's easy enough to figure out.

As far as Windows Mail, it looks like Outlook Express. So far the difference I've found is that Windows Mail has a calendar similar to the calendar in OE's big brother, Outlook.

And it shares Outlooks Junk Mail functionality and (if I remember correctly - I use Outlook) also it's message rules.

In other words: its OE in steroids :)

Thanks for the hot poop, Miz. Shall we say, "case closed for now ". When I power up a new machine I'll probably be E-mailing for assistance. Upgrading from Wins. 98SE to Vista will be a challenge for me. Help-Help

One of the things I like about it better than OE is that dbx files are a thing of the past. Your emails are stored in folders with names corresponding to those in your Windows Mail program as individual .eml files. No more corrupt dbx files. :)
