    have a client that is so upset with vista she has ordered a dell xp machine. my problem now is how can i bring back her mail from windows mail back to outlook express 6 using xp ???

    have researched this but honestly the solution didnt make much sense. all it says is to copy the windows mail folders into oe local folders and boom thats it. that doesnt sound right or i misunderstood.

    any assistance would be greatly appreciated....greg

    Long way that should probably work:

    Export-Import -> Win Mail to Outlook

    Export-Import -> Outlook to OE

    This should work - does for me ....

    Copy the .eml files to a known location on the XP machine.

    Open both OE and Windows Explorer

    Highlight the .eml files in WE and drag to a folder in OE - either to folder name in LH pane or to folder contents in RH pane.

    Good idea to create any user generated folders used in Windows Mail in OE before dragging the files into OE.

    petec - this is where i am having problems understanding how to do that. i have done this a dozen times and im still lost.

    i have created a folder in oe called bettie which shows in the lh pane. i dont understand how you can copy and paste the .eml mail from we into oe there is no paste function when i click on the folder and you cant paste over the top of the .dbx it created for bettie.

    what the hell am i missing here ???

    I don't have Windows Mail, but I guess you can copy the .eml files to a USB pendrive and then copy them into a folder on the XP computer?

    On the XP computer open Windows Explorer and OE 6 and arrange the windows so that both can be seen.

    Open the Bettie folder in OE.

    Navigate to the folder you created in WE for the .eml files from the Vista computer, select them all and left mouse click and drag (not copy/paste as there is no paste function in OE as you have found) to the right hand pane of the open Bettie folder.
