I uninstalled NIS07 a week or so ago due to a slowed down pc and was looking for a replacement for it. I came across Windows Live OneCare and installed the suite (free trial for 90 days) and so far so good. I just came across a six month old post on these boards that was about OneCare opinions. It was,I think,a fairly new product then. I'd like to hear any new opinions on this product...has anyone had troubles with it? Is it reliable?

I actually bought it and ran it for a number of months. In the end, I opted to uninstall it and go with separate apps as opposed to a suite of security apps. I think that separate programs are far better at their individual tasks than any suite could possibly be. I chose NOD32 for AV and the paid version of Kerio for my firewall. I also use Sunbelt's CounterSpy for my malware program and find that these are not resource intensive and do a fine job for me. My daughter-in-law continues to use Windows Live OneCare and seems to have no problems with it. I can't say that I actually had any problems with it but I lost confidence after readying a number of security articles relating to suites versus separate programs.

I ran the beta for a couple of months on Vista RC1 and was satisfied with it. In fact I received the offer, at a reduced cost, of one years licence of the full product, and I bought it.
I am still waiting for my full Vista to arrive, but on Vista RC1 Live one Care is giving me no problems, and it updates quietly in the background. On my XP I use the ZA Security suite, but I think that the close integration of the LOC to the Vista kernel, and processes, should provide very sure protection. We have to wait and see!
