    Hello.

Here is my experience with Windows 7 and Live messenger.

I tried to install Live Messenger from: http://download.live.com/messenger

Then my Windows 7 froze either mouse or keyboard worked anymore.
In Safe Mode, I could get the keyboard to work but not the mouse.
I could not uninstall Live Messenger in Safe Mode.
Neither in normal mode, since either the mouse or keyboard worked.

I have not done a system restore point, so there was only to make new installations :(

I would advise using a "lite" version of MSN. These do not install so you are safe. although they are of course not official...

I had the same thing happen to me today -- I all most reinstalled the whole system until I found the system restore ( when I installed it the first time I must have left it in default) but it found the last program I had installed ( which happened to be an update for AVG - ) I uninstalled that - using the system restore on my installation DVD after about 3~5minutes of disk clattering entertainment I rebooted my system ... problem gone -
I will just keep my chat sessions to my WinXP VM on linux or my other laptop drive with Linux until this bug is worked out ... (and where can you find the "lite "version of WinLive Messenger ? lite -- that sounds too much like a diet to me(lol)

Windows 7 is beta software and problems are to be expected. You should never install beta software, particularly an OS, on a mission critical computer - if you only run one computer that is mission critical :)

In this case consider a dual boot between your current OS and Win7

I don't know if I can post links, but you can just Google something like "Windows Live Messenger Lite ". It's the first result.

Yes - you can add a link. Copy the URL from the Address Bar in IE or .... and paste into your post.

There are major problems with WLM on Windows 7. Expect a new build of WLM to become available. No time frame, but MS is aware of the problems.

I would advise against running Windows Live Messenger Lite. It is not a Microsoft product.
