is there any way to stop this from happening? the problem is, my mom checks her hotmail, and my messenger wants to open. it doesnt sign in, but it still opens which is a pain in the butt.

i tried the setting within WLMessenger saying "open WLMessenger when i click on a link that tries to interact with WLMessenger" i have that unchecked, but its still happening.

    help?

she uses the full version, and my messenger is version 8.5

Creating seperate Window User Profiles would be an idea to consider.

Check you defualt mail software setting in internet explorer's "Internet Properties" window. Make sure that it isn't linking to some Messenger software. Also, setting up your own account or user in windows would be good. I currently use both of these and I can check mine seperatly from it running WLMessenger. What is she clicking to get it to pop up?

my default program is OE6 (for now, until im forced to switch to WLMD after june, then ill have all new problems)

and, it just happens when she clicks on hotmail (she uses it thru internet explorer, but mine are all in OE), it opens. she has it remember her automatically.

i checked in her hotmail settings but i couldnt find anything to apply to that.

for future reference what happens when i do use WLMD in the future, because that does associate with messenger... how do i fix this problem then?

how do i go about creating a new windows user account, or make my messenger not be associated with it?

i remember after i formatted, clicking "yes" on "associate this sign in with my windows account" or something..... maybe i could undo that?

I'm assuming you are running XP. There are more settings to check in Outlook Express. I believe it to be under Tools-> Options. There is a setting in there to set whether outlook syncs with messenger. WLMD<--What is this again? A new account can be created through Control Panel-->User Accounts.
