Today when I booted up I got the following error:

There was a problem that caused part of Windows LiveID sign-in assistant to be disabled. You may not be able to sign in to Windows Live in some programs. The problem may have been caused by a program that was recently installed. For information go to, and then there's a Microsoft link listed that goes no where.

I checked in services and Windows LiveID assistant is on and set to automatic.
I rebooted several times and get the same error message. I have not installed any new software.

How do I fix this error message?

Hi Alicia, Googling gives problem with IE9 - no fix mentioned except one guy went back to IE8 and that fixed his.
What version of IE are you running? Try to update IE and see if that cures it. Neil.

I have I.E. 11 installed and I've been using it for quite some time. I changed the service to manual instead of automatic as a work around and that stopped the start up message.
I'd like to fix the problem if it's possible.

The fixit link just took me to a general download page. I did the 'fix it yourself' and turned the service off and then on. I still get the message.

Actually I don't. It just bugged me that I am getting this error message. Perhaps it's a waste of time trying to fix. I'll just set it to manual start. Thanks for the replies.

I don't use it either. I have in the past but it has been awhile. I am like you, if I need it, I will start it.
