Ok in short any time I open an avi file and winamp starts up it freezes for a few seconds then windows installer kicks in and starts installing roxio cineplayer decoder pack.

I uninstalled all of my roxio stuff and reinstalled a fresh copy I let windows installer do the install that starts after the avi starts and still it keeps popping up even after all that... It happens every time I open any avi and its making me crazy how do I fix this?

Im on vista x64 ult and I have looked in the event viewer and iv tried to find anything that relates to this issue and this is what I have found. I also have a warning event for msiinstaller but I cant connect it to my issue here just because I dont see anything saying its part of cineplayer but I will add it to be safe.

Edit: I cleared all my logs and pulled up an avi again. Now I have about 7 events the one warning I was talking about and a bunch of information events first thing I get is the msiinstaller warning then I get restartmanager then two system restore followed by two msiinstallers then another restartmanager.

Im going to attempt to track down this warning.

Edit2: I did a bit more searching found someone else having a issue like mine they said to use K-Lite Codec tweek tool to fix bag entries or something but even after i did all that still didnt work so im still having the issue anyone have any ideas?

    Have you scanned for viruses?
Have you uninstalled the K-Lite Codecs?

Yes I checked for virus's and scanned everything and yes I have removed all my 3rd party codecs removed all in one k-lite tried both by themselfs tried the k-lite tweek tools to fix the codec.

At the moment im removing roxio again then im going to use the windows cleanup tool to remove the entrys and then im going to clear anything in my registry related to roxio. I will also be updating my windows installer...

    Any other ideas?

Ok so I removed Roxio totally from my computer used windows cleanup cleaned up the registry updated windows installer removed all my codec and reinstalled all of them as well everything was cleared and fresh install.

Rebooted the computer installed the codec and opened the avi running h264 and everything worked good no windows installer everything was running installed roxio again and sure enough the issue came back. Seems cineplayer decoder just doesnt want to give up the ghost anyone have any idea how to fix this bloody issue before I reformat?

    Hi ac19189,

This post looks and sounds like the twin to your issue, right down to the clsid codes. A registry cleaner called, "Codec Tweak Tool 3.0.0" apparently fixed and solved the issure for this person perhaps it will do the same for you. Here's the board link with post:
Solved - Sonic Cineplayer decoder pack

Here's the link to the apparent magic program:
    codec tweak tool

If you give this a shot be sure to backup your registry first, either by making a restore point or exporting it. I'm not making a judgment or recommendation for this post and fix but am just passing it along. I can see no harm if proper registry backup precautions have been used. Since you have described yourself as experienced, I'm sure you know the risks.
