Windows Installer Service Problems

    I recieve the following error message when trying to install Sun Microsystems Inc. Java Virtual Machine for taking an employment test. I am dowloading from http://www.proveit.com/default.htm:

    The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running in Safe Mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.

    I am not running in safe mode. I have also been having problems installing other problems.

    Any help is appriciated.

    Same problem

    :mad: I am having the same exact problem when installing Java, as well as Office 2003, and the Utility for my network card. I have tried all methods in Microsoft KB articles 886630, 324516, 315346, as well as the java.com site for error 1722. I cannot get any of these to work...please help!:mad:
