Hello All. Whenever I try to install a program I get this message:The Windows Installer Service Could Not Be Accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode or the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. I am running Windows XP. Any ideas? Thanks

Yes, I installed windows installer 4.5. I followed Method 1 by going into Msconfig to confirm if the installer service was running and saw that it was stopped. I took the checkmark out of the box next to the Windows Installer and then placed the checkmark back in. I then re-started the computer. I proceeded onto Method 2 by Re-registering the Windows Installer. Everything looked correct as is was supposed to in the Registry. (Edit String had labeled correctly). I then started my computer in safe mode, opened up the Run box and typed in the box: msiexec/regserver...that's where I get a message stating it "Windows cannot locate the file "

Make sure when you click Start< Run and type msiexec /regserver put a space in between the c and the / otherwise the command won't work.

I was able to make the executable work: msiexec /reserver in the run box by making sure there was a space after the c, however I am able to get this to work: ren msi.dll.old. I get an error message that says: The system cannot find the file specified.

I already had you install Windows Installer 4.5 so you don't have to reinstall Windows Installer again. Go ahead and skip method 4 in the article, reboot the computer and then see if you can get your software program to install properly.
