If you are asking about windows installer cleanup utility, keep in mind that this utility has been retired or is no longer offered by microsoft. Not recommended for using at all when dealing with office 2007 issues.

Having said that, I have read that it does work with 32 and 64 bit.

It can still be downloaded from various sites but be sure it is a trusted and reliable site such as:

Choose from the two server links other than "authors site ".

More to the point - why do you need it?

I've only ever used it once on my XP. I was trying to install some Monster Remote software that didn't install properly. System restore only goes so far and there are remnants left behind.

I used to have GoBack on my XP machine. I now have Acronis and perhaps Acronis Try & Decide feature might be an option for my next attempt.

    Hi Alicia,

In that case "microsoft cleanup utility" may not be the best choice. It does not uninstall anything but registry pointer(s) the installation of "something" ms installer was used for. This tool is used to aid in the removal of registry pointers a fussy install or uninstall, by ms installer, may have left behind. Even then it should be considered as a "next to the last" resort tool. (with the exception of a past proven history as being the best proven method) It will not remove drudge from harddrive such as folders, files or drivers.

It's best to look elsewhere for solution to removal of this application. I was going to help prescreen this app and see if a tool or manual deletion was offered but I got to many hits just looking for filter: "Monster Remote software ".

Thanks you for your information goddez1. Perhaps someone has posted a solution somewhere on line. I'll have to keep looking. Manual uninstall directions would be good to find, or if I was really dreaming, a removal tool. :)

Can you provide more specific information on this application?
    >specific name, link, version, etc.

What do you mean by install malfunction? (specific quoted error, etc. )

What happened when you tried to uninstall it?

Dependant upon the answers to the above, perhaps I spoke to soon in assumption that "MS cleanup tool" wasn't a good choice.

I use the Monster central remote software to program my remote. The remote controls my TV, stereo, DVD player etc

In order to program the remote, I have to have their software installed that allows me to have access to their site. I can't login to program my remote without the software installed.

I installed the software from the disk that I had. It is not compatible with Win 7 I found out. I did not get an error message but I could not get passed the menu for initial setup of remote (which I didn't need to do.) The tech at Monster Remote help desk told me to install the latest version from the website. That was all the help he could be.

Then I had an idiot moment and did a system restore rather than uninstall the wrong version. Now I have remnants left behind.

I have downloaded the appropriate version but wanted to get rid of the remnants left behind from the installation of the wrong version.

I also need to figure out how to allow the application to connect to the website without my router preventing it from doing so.
