When I start Windows XP I get the Windows Installer and Solution centre 'Icons' appearing on my screen.

To say that they are a nuisance is to say the least.

Can anyone out there please advise how I can stop this appearing at on my screen at the start. I have gone into 'Help and Support' no use. I have tried CP and other 'help' options.

    Hi Jacobowicz,

I'm having a problem clearly understanding what your problem is based on your post:
Can you be a bit more descriptive?
*What icons, appearing "where and when" on the screen?
*Does this involve an error, warning or request on startup?
*Is this two issues one with "windows installer" and one with a "solution center "
    or
    a single issue either involving
*the installation of "Solution Center" or
*a Solution Center warning involving a "windows installer" issue.

"Solution Center" maybe part of either an OEM install such as Dell or HP, which, as I understand it, offers solutions (trouble shooting) and possibly online help for issues. Also may have been installed as part of a hardware device such as a printer. Once it is determined "what the "solution center" is part of, methods or advisability of stopping this can be determined.

    Maybe be helpful:

    Thanks for your message.

This is a new 'problem' and has only manifest itself over the past 2 or 3 weeks. Have never ever seen this before.

It is not an icon but a box and is a request on start up. It is one issue involving both of them

A box appears headed solution centre with the following wording.
"The feature you are trying to acess is on a CD-ROM or other renewable disc which is not available solution centre disc "

I will have to come back to you on the next start up. As stated, it does ask for the CD-ROM.

I'll attempt to do do a copy of the messages and send them on to you. If not successful I will attempt to relate as much information as I can.

I do not think that it has anything to do with the installation etc.

Google has hit it right on the nose and clearly relates to my problem.

    Watch this space!!

I found this in Yahoo which virtually describes my problem.

    Any further thoughts.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the Hewlett Packard solution centre, there is a desktop icon for this.

Having done some more investigation, whilst you were in 'the land of Nod', as they say. it appears that it is my HP Printer software for my D2400 series printer which causes the problem. Having inserted the CR-ROM in when requested, I think that the problem might have been solved. Game, set and match.

Thank you for all your help and suggestions.
