windows hangs up at xp screen

    I tried putting my HD in new computer and wouldn't work so I put it back in old computer, eMachine, and now it hangs up at the WindowsXP screen and won't go any farther. I put in the PartitionMagic rescue and checked partition for errors and it shows error 1516 Partition improperly dismounted. Can anyone help me get this back up and running in my old computer?

    Boot to your XP setup CD and evoke the Recovery Console. From a command line run the following command:

    chkdsk /r

    Remove the CD and type exit and press enter. You may get lucky and end up in a Windows session.

    tried it along with fixboot & fixmbr. I just finished re-installing windows again.
