Okay guys so I've got an odd problem.

First off, the computer we're working with doesn't have RDP enabled.
Also, this system is not connected to a domain.

We need to retrieve documents on this system, however the user (owner) has forgotten the password.

So with that being said, we cannot rebuild the system and as far as I understand I currently have no way of retrieving the information without using some type of cracking/hacking software (of which i'm not sure I can trust any).

I understand there is software that can be used to reboot the system and bypass the user password, however, the motherboard on this system does not recognize usb's as a boot device (which most of this "bypass" software requires).

Is there a way I can use Windows Explorer to access the information required? I figure if I use my computer and just type in the computer name or the IP address of the PC then I would be able to access the system, however the system requires a user name and password to be accessed (and as stated earlier, forgot password) Since the system does not have RPD enabled, Explorer seems to be the only option that does not affect the system in a negative way.

I'm open to any and all suggestions.

    Thanks

Hi Szen, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

This is as far as we go on this topic, What to do if you forget your Windows password.

If the procedure above doesn't help then unfortunately we cannot help you retrieve missing or forgotten passwords.
