In Windows Explorer in XP as you moved through the list of folders (in the left side pane) with your down or up arrow key, the contents of the folder were displayed on the right side reading pane. In Vista the contents only appear if you click the folder. The arrow key brings you up or down through the folder list but does not show the folder contents. Is there a setting to make it work the same in Windows Explorer under Vista?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS:)

Down or Up arrow key and then hit ENTER on the folder to view the contents.

Thanks Steve that works but in XP you don't need to press Enter.

Yesterday when I was typing I was on a Vista machine...Just tried the XP machine I'm on now...

XP seems to do the enter for you....XP seems to take longer to arrow down cause it does what appear to be an enter key function on each folder...

I use the mouse to navigate and get from one folder to another...

It's just one of those things I got used to and liked in XP. I thought that somebody else may have found a setting to make it function the same in Vista. I'm an old Mainframe guy and still heavily use the keyboard.
