Windows Explorer Search not functioning

    when searching for files that exist search returns with "no files found." Have rebooted numerous times since the problem was evident. I am a befuddled.

    Chuck,

    What are you using for your search criteria? Are you having the problem with one file or many? You might want to try a different search tool. Agent Ransack is *free* and can be downloaded HERE. This is the 'lite' version of File Locator Pro, which is what I use, and it works very well. HTH

    What you're searching for may be a hidden file.

    In My Computer (or any folder), click on Tools>Folder Options>View tab. Make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is checked, "Hide extensions for known file types" and "Hide protected operating system files" are both unchecked.

    Also in the Windows Search, find "More Advanced options" (it'll be in the left-hand pane) and make sure "Search subfolders," "Search system folders" and "Search subfolders" are all checked.

    Am I embarrased! Thanks, Miz ... 'Search subfolders" was not checked!!

    Thanks for the lead on Agent Ransack, Mr. B ... plan to give it a try later today.
