My problem is that my windows explorer (am using '98 SE) is behaving oddly these days - after I got infected by a malware. The problem is that in all folders I open, I am prompted to click on "show files" before the contents would be displayed.

Before the malware infection (it's already gone), only the system folders would prompt me to click "show files ". It's very inconvenient now having to click show files for all folders I open.

Hope you can help me fix this problem of mine. Thanks.

Right click on a blank area in the folder, then View, uncheck As Webpage.

Have you tried (in explorer) view>folder options, click the view tab and make sure NOTHING is hidden, and extentions are shown also?
