Windows Explorer: Problems Never-ending

    I've been having nothing but problems with Windows Explorer since I reformatted about 2 weeks ago. The thing is driving me crazy, it is often using up 100% of my cpu power and it rarely responds and I am forced to end it. I can't count the number of error reports I've sent off... Recently, something even more maddening has begun: I cannot open one of my folders for more then 30 seconds without Explorer crashing and having to close. This folder just contains my music and has worked previously with out any problems. Any ideas, folks?

    Sounds like your computer is opening a exe file at start up which may be conflicting your system. I neat trick I learned from a techie helps to remove unnecessary programs that may be making your system run slow. You need patiance but it worked for me when mine was running like a snail.

    1. Download Crapcleaner program free from ccleaner.com or http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

    2. Open program and clean your system of unwanted files, cookies etc that are clogging up space. Scan for registry issues and fix. Finally and most importantly for you go onto tools/startup and you will see a list of programs your computer automatically loads up when it starts. You will notice each one ends with a filename.exe
    If you run a google search for that file ie. jusched.exe and open the first item in the results it should tell you whether it is important for your system or whether you can delete it. Some of these may even be adware or virus files that you must delete. These such files will slow your machine. try to get the list down to just the necessarry.

    3 restart you machine and it should run faster.

    I think your advice is inappropriate in this case - the system was reformatted only 2 weeks ago and is unlikely to be clogged up. A recalcitrant shell extension or possibly malware are prime suspects - at this stage:)

    Well, I looked through the guide for troubleshooting explorer errors and no luck. It doesn't happen when I right click on something, just after I open the folder, for about 30 seconds it is fine and then it suddenly closes and windows gives me the 'explorer had to close sending error report' routine. It is fine with other folders, however I am experiencing slowness and lockups ocassionally with others as well.

    I would be interested to know if you see the same problem in Safe Mode ....

    No, when in safe mode the symptons do not persist. I had the window open for several minutes and it did not close at all on me.

    That's both interesting and relevant indicating that an add-on somewhere, which is not loaded in Safe Mode is the culprit - I doubt it is a driver.

    May I suggest you go through the article I posted again ...
    Download ShellExView as suggested and follow Arie's instructions re. disabling all non Microsoft shell extensions, testing and re-enabling them one by one.

    If this fails to resolve the problem we shall have to look for malware. I suggest in any case you run one or two online scans accessible through Quicklinks in my signature.

    This is my problem too Re:Faulting application explorer.exe,version 6.0.2900.2180

    In my other post "Faulting application explorer.exe,version 6.0.2900.2180" this is my problem in a nutshell, Except my problem also happens in safe mode.I also ran the shell thingy too and that was not the answer obviously or I wouldn't be going crazy for the past five days.
