Windows Explorer not responding when I access My Document folders

    I would like to know what needs to be done to fix a problem with Windows Explorer. When I access folders/files in My Documents, it triggers a prompt telling me that Explorer has errors and must close the application, and freezes up my system until I use the Task Manager to end task. I can get to the files but it is extremely annoying. Please Advise.
