Every 10 - 30 minutes or so, while surfing the web, a message comes up saying "Windows is not working properly ". It then turns off and reloads. It happens a lot. I don't know the cause or why this is happening. I have a laptop with Windows Vista. It happens when I am wireless or plugged in via ethernet cable.
    Please help.

OK - the problem may lie in an Internet Add-on .....

In IE go to Tools > Manage Add-ons > Enable or Disable Add-ons. Disable all those that you can and test. If the problem is resolved then re-enable one add-on - test and so on until the problem returns. Then the culprit is known.

BTW if you do not see the menu bar - File - Edit - View - etc right click on an empty area alongside the Home, etc icons and check Menu Bar. In earlier versions the Menu bar was not shown by default - in the current version it is.
