Windows Explorer closes [when opening external drive]

    I have several external harddrives. today when I open the P external I get a error message that windows has to close.It only happens when opening this drive. the other 3 work perfectly. the detials list digital product Id as a possible problem?

    As Explorer only crashes when you try to access that drive it suggests a problem with the drive or possibly with the connection to the computer (USB?)

    Have you tried another USB port - another USB cable? - just to eliminate those two items from the equation.

    It would be worth your while checking out the drive with the manufacturer's disk diagnostic software ....

    I have tried the different usb port and cables. Have submitted a question to Western Digital will let you know the results
