I'm setting up Vista's Disk Cleanup utility to run from a batch file and am interested in determining if the Error Reporting files that Disk Cleanup mentions, can safely be deleted. My question--barring a major problem, is there any reason why I would want to keep these error reporting files past my monthly cleanup day? Presumably, if a problem kept occurring and I had in fact deleted these files, Vista would generate new files, would it not?

Hi Paul. When I had Vista installed I removed the error reporting files using the disk cleanup tool and exerperienced no side effects or problems. If you did experience a problem with your system that kept happening then yes Vista would in fact re-generate those error reporting files.
