When I start my computer it shows a box with the text:

    NAV Auto Protect
Unable to determain location of the configaration files.
    [ok]

When i click [ok] it shows the login window
I put in the password and click ok.
then a error window with the text:

exploere caused an invalid fault page in module exploere.exe at 017f:00401f31

After showing the error, windows stops booting and my only options are to reset or shutdown.

Sounds like system is infected w/ something. many malware now target av programs and corrupt them. If made a Norton rescuse disk set then boot with it.

Other option is to try booting in Safe Mode. Press the F8 key during reboot until get a menu & select Safe mode (no networking). If get to desktop, use add-remove programs and select Norton there. The uninstall for Norton will give an option to Repair it.
