XP SP2 (OS will not accept SP3) does not shut down, even when requested. Does it on a regular basis. Screen goes to blue and then sits there. Using proper procedure to shut it down. Any suggestions? This is an older model computer, and refuses also to allow the OS to be reinstalled (not up to date enough it says) or the SP3. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I expect that it means that the drivers are not up to date enough.

You may be able to find updated drivers, you might not.

Can you give us the details (make and model) of the computer? The links in my signature might help.
