i am having a problem with windows not recognizing one of my two dvd burners.i recently installed a new mobo(abit nf7s-2g) and did a repair install on xp afterwards and i have been having this problem ever since. my nec burner is not listed in device manager or my computer. i removed the connector from the mobo for a minute and reinstalled it. after that windows listed both drives and i thought the problem was solved. on the next reboot the same thing happened again, no nec drive listed. i did the same thing again and also cleared the cmos and again both drives were listed. on the next reboot the nec drive was missing again. this is driving me nuts. by the way both drives are listed in the bios. please help. nec drive is master and samsung drive is the slave, i never had this problem previously

i did that and also unplugged the drives again and both drives were listed in device manager but only one was listed in my computer. i updated the firmware on both drives and after three reboots everything seems back to normal. so far.i'll keep my fingers crossed. thanks
