What does synchronize across time mean? What time is it synchronizing with?

Also the schedule in the task scheduler shows last run never. It has in fact run. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Was the task actually run from the schedular?

And you might want to look in the Windows Help file for the other question.

I did look in the help files and saw information about clock synchronization, but did not think it was related. I guess it is. :)

I'm not sure. The notification area said a scheduled scan was running, but the history in scheduled tasks doesn't seem to show anything.

What is the difference between opening the Windows Defender GUI and running a manual scan vs doing the same from the scheduler?

None - in the first case you initiate the scan, in the second the computer initiates the scan.

Is there not an indication of the last scan time in Windows Defender? I don't have a vanilla copy of Windows Defender installed - over-ridden in 7 by my security suite and using MSE on other computers which incorporates Windows Defender. They all show the last scan time.

Yes it does show as being run in the Windows Defender GUI but not in the task scheduler.
